Wipro Limited has entered into a multi-year strategic transformation agreement with Singapore-based food and agri-business leader Olam Group. This 8-year contract is expected to exceed $1 billion in total value, representing one of Wipro’s largest engagements in recent years. As part of the deal, Wipro will lead an AI-driven digital overhaul across Olam’s global operations to strengthen its market position.
In a parallel move, Wipro will acquire Mindsprint, the IT and digital services arm of Olam Group, for $375 million in an all-cash transaction. Mindsprint currently employs over 3,200 professionals who will join the Wipro family once the deal closes, likely by the end of June 2026. This acquisition brings specialized proprietary technology into Wipro’s portfolio, including platforms for plantation management and commodity trading. Wipro plans to utilize its Wipro Intelligence suite to modernize Olam's farm-to-fork value chain. The transformation will focus on critical areas such as farming forecasting, supply chain logistics, and customer engagement. By combining Mindsprint’s industry-specific expertise with Wipro's global scale, the partnership aims to catalyze innovation across the agricultural sector.
Olam Group, which is majority-owned by Temasek Holdings, views this divestment as a core pillar of its 2025 Re-organisation Plan. The proceeds from the sale are expected to be used to reward shareholders through special dividends while sharpening the group's focus on its core food and fiber businesses. CEO Sunny Verghese noted that the synergy between the two companies will help Olam become more agile and future-ready.
Wipro CEO Srini Pallia highlighted that the engagement is a major step in expanding the company's capabilities in the global supply chain and retail industries. The deal provides Wipro with significant revenue visibility, with a committed spend of $800 million over the contract duration. This strategic anchor is expected to bolster Wipro’s growth trajectory as it continues to pivot toward consulting-led and AI-powered service models.
This mega-deal signals a significant shift in the IT services landscape where domain-specific intellectual property is becoming as valuable as the labor itself. By acquiring a captive unit like Mindsprint, Wipro is not just buying a workforce; it is securing specialized agritech solutions that can be scaled across the global market. For Olam, this move follows a broader industry trend of asset-light restructuring intended to maximize shareholder value while leveraging external AI expertise to maintain resilience against supply chain volatility. The high committed spend of $800 million suggests that long-term, consulting-led partnerships are replacing traditional, short-term service contracts in the enterprise sector.
