Abu Dhabi Police and Space42, the UAE based AI powered SpaceTech leader, have entered a strategic partnership to transform urban security through autonomous mobility. Signed on January 7, 2026, the Memorandum of Understanding establishes a roadmap for integrating advanced AI and satellite technology into the capital's law enforcement infrastructure. The collaboration focuses on developing self-driving police vehicles and intelligent security frameworks to ensure safer, more efficient roads.
Brigadier Mohammed Dhahi Al Hamiri, representing the Abu Dhabi Police, emphasized that the agreement aims to elevate service quality through high-tech security adoption. By applying AI and autonomous solutions to police fleets, the department expects to minimize traffic incidents and enhance community safety. This initiative aligns with the leadership's broader vision for a connected and resilient transport ecosystem.
The partnership leverages the unique capabilities of Space42, a company formed through the 2024 merger of Bayanat and Yahsat. Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space42, noted that the joint effort will address real-world security needs through scalable technology. The project integrates geospatial analytics and satellite connectivity to provide autonomous vehicles with reliable data streams even in complex urban environments.
Beyond hardware and software, the agreement places a strong emphasis on human capital development. Both organizations are committed to upskilling Emirati talent through specialized training and field programs in robotics and data science. This focus ensures that the future of Abu Dhabi's security sector is managed by a workforce capable of handling sophisticated autonomous infrastructure.
Space42 serves a global clientele by combining Earth observation with robust communication networks. Its Smart Solutions division specializes in processing geospatial data to improve situational awareness and operational efficiency for government entities. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the company's efforts to apply space-derived insights to terrestrial safety challenges.
This partnership represents a critical convergence of space technology and urban law enforcement, effectively bringing satellite capabilities down to the street level. By integrating Space42's geospatial AI with the Abu Dhabi Police fleet, the UAE is moving from reactive security to a predictive, data-driven model. This collaboration serves as a major validation of the 2024 merger between Bayanat and Yahsat, demonstrating how unified SpaceTech can address complex terrestrial challenges. Furthermore, it accelerates the objectives of the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster, positioning Abu Dhabi as a global testing ground for sovereign, AI-enabled security infrastructure.
