SAP SE unveiled a new generation of AI-enhanced retail innovations at NRF 2026, marking a shift toward autonomous business processes. By introducing an agentic operating system, the company aims to move beyond simple content generation to systems that proactively manage planning and execution. This suite-first strategy helps retailers operate with greater intelligence and resilience while delivering personalized experiences for customers across all channels. The new Retail Intelligence solution in SAP Business Data Cloud provides accurate demand and inventory planning through AI-generated simulations. Scheduled for general availability in the first half of 2026, it harmonizes data from sales and inventory to help planners anticipate outcomes. This predictive approach lowers costs and raises service levels by optimizing inventory before disruptions occur, allowing brands to scale without adding complexity.

SAP also introduced the Storefront MCP server to address the rise of shopping via personal AI assistants. This technology makes SAP Commerce Cloud storefronts intelligible to models like ChatGPT, enabling a channel-less experience. Customers can now discover and purchase products directly through their preferred AI tools without ever navigating traditional websites, unlocking new growth opportunities for modern retailers.

Merchandising tasks are becoming more intuitive with new natural language capabilities for the Joule copilot. Planners can now manage assortments by simply giving verbal or written instructions to create, modify, or retire product lines. This removes technical barriers for users and allows brands to respond much faster to shifting market trends. These enhancements provide the foundation needed for AI-assisted fashion operations across the entire business.

Fulfillment accuracy receives a significant boost from the Order Reliability Agent, set for release in the second quarter of 2026. This agent proactively identifies potential risks like weather delays or stockouts and alerts associates before they impact the consumer experience. By combining autonomous monitoring with human judgment, SAP ensures that brand trust remains intact throughout the delivery cycle.

To ensure consistency, SAP integrated omnichannel promotion pricing with SAP S/4HANA Cloud. This single source of truth prevents pricing discrepancies between online stores and physical locations, ensuring promotions like bonus buys work everywhere. Balaji Balasubramanian of SAP SE emphasized that AI is no longer optional for retailers who want to achieve scale and growth in a dynamic market.
