SafetyCulture Acquires Twine to Lead Agentic AI Shift for Global Frontline Operations

SafetyCulture announced its acquisition of Sydney-based AI startup Twine on April 7, 2026. This move accelerates the transition of its workplace operations software into an agentic-first platform. The integration provides more than 85,000 organizations with advanced tools to turn complex data into usable insights for frontline teams. Brian Swift returns to the company as the new Vice President of AI as part of the deal. Swift previously served as the VP of Product before co-founding Twine to bridge data gaps between product and customer teams. He is joined by key engineers and designers from the Twine team who will help build out the internal AI division.

The Future of Agentic AI

The acquisition focuses heavily on the development of agentic AI. These autonomous systems are designed to execute multi-step workflows and make decisions on behalf of users. CEO Luke Anear emphasized that the company is prioritizing this experience to solve immediate, real-world problems for the deskless workforce.

SafetyCulture intends to use Twine’s technology to digest unstructured data from checklists, sensors, and training modules. This capability allows the platform to predict equipment failures and automate compliance reporting without manual human prompting. This technological shift is a key part of the company's push toward 100 million users by 2032.

This buyout is the first in a series of planned acquisitions intended to keep the platform ahead of emerging competitors. By embedding AI-native capabilities directly into its ecosystem, the company aims to offer a more powerful toolset for physical work environments. The combined team will now work to translate complex AI architecture into practical utility for workers in the field.
