Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison said on August 6, 2026, that it launched Zankore by Indosat with Ooredoo Group, NVIDIA, and Nokia to build AI factory infrastructure for Asia-Pacific, starting from Indonesia. The partners described a long-term target of 1 gigawatt of NVIDIA DSX AI Factory capacity.
In an Indosat press release, the company said Zankore is designed for secure, scalable AI computing and positions Indonesia as a regional AI hub. Ooredoo Group is lead investor and platform sponsor. NVIDIA supplies accelerated computing and software, while Nokia provides AI-native networking.
First capacity in 2027
Indosat said Zankore plans about 200 megawatts of AI capacity in the first half of 2027, powered by NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 systems and built on NVIDIA DSX reference architecture for compute, networking, power, cooling, and operations. The platform will also use NVIDIA DSX MaxLPS, which Indosat said is designed to recover stranded power and enable up to 40% more compute within the same facility power budget.
President Director and CEO Vikram Sinha framed the offering as more than raw GPUs, pointing to an integrated stack that includes models such as Sahabat-AI and network capabilities including AI Grid and AI-RAN. Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, said the government supports sovereign AI infrastructure that can serve regional demand.
Zankore named a board with Ooredoo and Indosat representatives plus an independent director, and appointed Ulf Ewaldsson as chief executive officer. Citi advised Indosat on the transaction, and FTI Capital Advisors advised Ooredoo Group.
Decoded Take
Zankore is Southeast Asia arguing that AI advantage will follow power, networking, and local operating partners, not only model labs in the United States or China. A 1 GW target is aspirational until megawatts and customers show up, so the nearer test is whether the 200 MW 2027 phase lands on schedule with enterprise and government tenants. Watch offtake from Indonesian banks, manufacturers, and public agencies, and whether Sahabat-AI and AI-RAN become real differentiated services or just branding around rented GPUs.
