Falak Holding has officially acquired a majority stake in Kernel, an applied artificial intelligence startup with operations spanning Saudi Arabia and Jordan. This strategic move is designed to integrate deep technical AI expertise directly into Falak's venture building and investment platform. The acquisition highlights the increasing focus on practical technology applications within the regional ecosystem. Kernel is recognized for its mission to bridge the gap between theoretical research and market ready products. The company develops practical AI solutions for businesses and manages the AI Startup Lab, an initiative dedicated to training technical teams and helping them build scalable technology products. These programs focus on turning advanced ideas into functional tools for the market.
Under the terms of the agreement, Kernel will maintain its operational independence while benefiting from Falak's extensive investment network and entrepreneurial infrastructure. This structure allows the startup to keep its agile culture while gaining access to the resources needed for regional expansion. The partnership aims to accelerate product development for AI driven ventures across the Middle East.
Adwa Al-Dakheel, Founder and CEO of Falak, noted that artificial intelligence serves as a primary driver of global economic transformation. "Our acquisition of Kernel aligns with our vision to build an integrated ecosystem that combines investment, innovation, and the practical application of advanced technologies," she stated in a press release.
Abdullah Alghuwairi, Founder of Kernel, expressed that joining Falak opens new opportunities to accelerate the development of AI technologies. He emphasized that Kernel was founded to make AI a practical tool for innovators. This collaboration is expected to expand the company's impact and support the growth of the regional tech landscape.
This transaction reflects a broader trend of consolidation within the Middle Eastern tech sector. As Saudi Arabia pursues its digital transformation goals, local investment firms are increasingly looking to secure specialized domestic talent rather than relying on foreign imports. This deal marks a significant step in maturing the local AI investment ecosystem.
This acquisition signals a shift in the MENA tech landscape from general software investments toward specialized deep tech and applied intelligence. By bringing Kernel into its fold, Falak is not just buying a company but is securing a talent pipeline and a product incubator via the AI Startup Lab. This move positions Falak as a key player in the Saudi Vision 2030 digital roadmap, moving beyond simple financial backing to become a vertically integrated technology builder that can deploy AI across its entire portfolio of startups.
