Swiss Startup Ex Nunc Intelligence Secures $2.15 Million to Build Legal AI Infrastructure

Lausanne-based Ex Nunc Intelligence has secured $2.15 million (€1.8 million) in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round to redefine the boundaries of legal intelligence. Led by Spicehaus Partners, the investment includes participation from Bloomhaus Ventures, Active Capital, Aperture Capital, and Core Angels. The capital will fuel the development of Silex, a platform designed to serve as the foundational infrastructure for modern law firms and corporate legal departments.

Silex distinguishes itself by moving beyond the standard software-as-a-service model to provide a deep-tech infrastructure layer. Unlike generic AI tools, the platform is native to both the legal and artificial intelligence fields, combining public legal databases with a client’s private internal knowledge. This allows legal professionals to transform massive volumes of documents into structured, strategic assets while maintaining strict control over their data.

The startup avoids the common approach where a simple interface is placed over third-party models. Instead, Ex Nunc Intelligence has built a proprietary full-stack architecture that handles everything from data ingestion and legal structuring to reasoning and generation. By using secure, isolated data silos, the system ensures that sensitive internal documents remain private and never leak into public training sets.

A primary goal of the Silex platform is to solve the industry trust problem regarding AI hallucinations. Every answer generated by the system is grounded in explicit, verifiable legal sources, ensuring that practitioners do not receive speculative or incorrect information. This focus on accuracy and verification makes it a reliable partner for several hundred firms and notary offices already utilizing the service.

With this new infusion of capital, the team plans to accelerate the rollout of specialized AI agents dedicated to specific niche areas of law. They are also developing a unique digital legal publishing layer integrated directly into Silex. This feature will allow scholars and practitioners to publish doctrinal content within the platform, creating a new compensation model for authors and integrating research directly into the daily legal workflow.
