ArkEdge Space Inc. and ABIT Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate the global rollout of IoT solutions and satellite communication terminals. This collaboration combines ArkEdge's micro-satellite constellations with ABIT's expertise in wireless technologies and ground-side device production. The partnership aims to provide connectivity in remote areas like Africa, South America, and Pacific Island nations.
ArkEdge Space focuses on end-to-end micro-satellite solutions, managing everything from initial design to in-orbit operations. The company has already demonstrated satellite short-message transmission using its fleet of 18 satellites. Their technology allows for the collection of sensor data in locations where traditional terrestrial networks are unavailable. ABIT Corporation is a leader in IoT hardware, specializing in low-power wireless devices for utility metering and disaster prevention. Their established presence in the domestic market includes a top share in remote gas meter reading terminals. ABIT provides the necessary mass production capabilities to scale these technologies for international social infrastructure.
Together, the companies will co-develop communication equipment to improve service quality and scalability for satellite applications. ArkEdge will lead the validation for its satellite systems while utilizing ABIT’s communication modules and protocols. These advancements are expected to support environmental monitoring, maritime tracking, and logistics operations. The alliance builds on successful demonstrations, such as the AE1b mission where satellite terminals were used for cross-border communications. This partnership ensures that sensor data can be integrated with geospatial information to assist in risk detection and decision-making. More details are available on the ArkEdge Space official page.
This partnership represents a critical pivot from technical demonstration to massive commercial scaling within the satellite industry. By merging ArkEdge Space’s micro-satellite agility with ABIT’s high-volume manufacturing of terrestrial sensors, the alliance overcomes the hardware bottlenecks that often stall IoT adoption in emerging markets. This integrated approach allows for the rapid deployment of disaster-prevention and climate-monitoring networks across regions like Africa and Central Asia where cellular coverage is non-existent. Ultimately, this collaboration signals a shift toward vertically integrated services that combine space infrastructure with real-world ground utility.
