Anthropic Acquires Vercept to Advance Claude Computer Use Skills

Anthropic announced today the acquisition of Vercept, a Seattle based startup specializing in AI perception and interaction. The Vercept team, including founders Kiana Ehsani, Luca Weihs, and Ross Girshick, will join Anthropic to focus on pushing the boundaries of how AI interacts with human software interfaces. On the OSWorld benchmark, Sonnet 4.6 achieved a 72.5 percent success rate, approaching the human baseline for navigating spreadsheets and web forms. By integrating Vercept’s technology, Anthropic expects to further improve the accuracy and reliability of these autonomous interactions. Following the 2025 acquisition of Bun, Anthropic now controls the perception, reasoning, and execution layers of its AI agents.
