Sony Electronics has announced the official launch of the XYN Spatial Capture Solution, a professional suite designed to generate high-quality 3DCG assets from real-world environments. Expected to arrive in the United States by summer 2026, the toolkit empowers creators to bridge the physical and digital worlds for film and commercial sets. This release marks the transition of the XYN ecosystem from its initial concept to a market-ready professional product.

A Triple Threat Software Ecosystem

The core of the system relies on three distinct software pillars designed to work in harmony. The XYN Spatial Scan Navi app uses augmented reality to guide camera operators in capturing every necessary angle with a Sony Alpha camera. This visualization ensures that environmental data is comprehensive and reduces the risk of missing blind spots during a shoot.

Once data is captured, it is processed via the XYN Spatial Scan cloud application. This tool leverages proprietary algorithms, including Gaussian Splatting, to recreate photorealistic textures and complex lighting conditions. By handling computations in the cloud, studios can generate assets without investing in massive on-site server hardware or specialized rendering farms.

For the final stage, the XYN Spatial Renderer Plugin enables real-time integration with industry-standard tools such as Unreal Engine. It allows for on-set adjustments to depth of field and lighting to ensure that live actors and digital backgrounds blend perfectly. This direct compatibility helps maintain stable image quality even on the massive LED walls used in modern virtual production.


Future Expansion and Availability

Sony plans to expand the capabilities of the system into fields such as gaming, animation, and digital twins for manufacturing. The solution will be exhibited at the upcoming NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas from April 19 to 22. Professional customers can expect general availability in the United States starting in the summer of 2026.
