SambaNova Systems has officially introduced the SN50, a next-generation AI chip designed specifically to power autonomous digital agents. The company reports that this new hardware is five times faster than existing solutions and provides a three-fold reduction in total cost of ownership. This milestone is supported by strategic collaborations with Intel and Google to deliver high-performance inference capabilities to organizations worldwide. To support its rapid growth, the firm secured more than $350 million in strategic Series E financing to expand its manufacturing and cloud capacity. The funding round was led by Vista Equity Partners and Cambium Capital, with significant participation from Intel Capital. These resources will be used to scale the SambaCloud platform and integrate advanced reasoning capabilities into enterprise workflows. SoftBank Corp. has signed on as the first major customer to deploy the SN50 architecture within its data centers in Japan. This deployment will serve as the backbone for low-latency inference services across the Asia-Pacific region, supporting both open-source and proprietary models. By utilizing the SN50 AI chip, SoftBank aims to build a sovereign AI fabric that offers better economics than traditional GPU-based clusters.

The SN50 is built on a unique Reconfigurable Data Unit architecture that optimizes the flow of data for complex reasoning tasks. It features a three-tier memory system capable of supporting models with over 10 trillion parameters and context lengths up to 10 million tokens. This design allows for massive throughput and responsiveness, which are essential for running large-scale agentic AI in production environments.

Rodrigo Liang, the co-founder and CEO of SambaNova, stated that the industry is shifting its focus from simply building larger models to creating efficient data centers. He noted that the SN50 is designed to ensure that AI agents can answer instantly without stalling, transforming AI into a profitable engine for the cloud. The company intends to provide a scalable alternative to the high costs and power requirements of current GPU solutions.

The strategic alliance with Intel and the integration with Google cloud ecosystems represent a significant move toward heterogeneous AI infrastructure. By combining specialized accelerators with standard compute and networking technologies, SambaNova is opening a multi-billion-dollar market opportunity for cost-effective inference. This approach provides enterprises with the flexibility and control needed to deploy advanced AI at scale.

The release of the SN50 marks a critical turning point in the AI hardware industry, shifting the focus from training massive models to the efficiency of running them in production. By specifically targeting agentic AI, SambaNova is addressing the growing demand for systems that can reason and execute tasks autonomously in real time. The collaboration with Intel and Google, combined with substantial new funding, signals that the market is moving toward a heterogeneous infrastructure model. This move challenges the current GPU-centric status quo, offering enterprises a path to scale high-performance AI while significantly reducing operational costs and power consumption.
