Roblox Corporation has launched a major expansion of its AI capabilities within Roblox Studio, moving from simple generative prompts to autonomous agentic workflows. Senior Vice President of Engineering Nick Tornow announced on April 15, 2026, that the platform now supports multi-step agents designed to assist with planning, building, and testing games. These tools aim to drastically reduce development time for the platform's top creators, nearly half of whom already utilize AI in their daily production pipelines.

The introduction of a specialized Planning Mode allows the Roblox Assistant to act as a collaborative partner rather than a single-use tool. This feature analyzes a project's existing code and data model to propose a detailed, editable action plan before execution begins. By asking clarifying questions and generating a structured blueprint, the system ensures that AI-driven changes align with the creator’s original vision and intent.

Building experiences is also being streamlined through new mesh and procedural generation features that turn text or image prompts into complex 3D assets. Creators can now insert textured meshes instantly or use code-controlled procedural models to generate dynamic objects like adjustable furniture or architectural elements. This approach allows for the creation of smarter, reusable building blocks that can be refined programmatically throughout the development process.

Quality assurance is being transformed by the Playtesting Agent Beta, an autonomous system that simulates player behavior to verify game mechanics. This agent can read server logs and navigate the game world to ensure that the final product matches the initial design document. High-level developers expect this technology to eventually handle community bug reports and patches overnight, allowing creators to focus on higher-level design tasks.

To ensure maximum flexibility for professional studios, Roblox has integrated a native Model Context Protocol server directly into its development environment. This allows creators to seamlessly link external AI tools like Anthropic’s Claude or code editors like Cursor to their Roblox projects. By providing these third-party models with direct access to project context, Roblox is fostering an open ecosystem where developers can choose the best AI tools for their specific needs.
