AI development platform Replit announced a $400 million Series D funding round on March 11, 2026. The investment, led by Toronto-based growth investor Georgian, values the San Francisco company at $9 billion. This capital injection marks a rapid follow-on for the firm after Georgian previously invested in the company's Series C late last year.

Joining the round were prominent institutional partners including Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue, Y Combinator, and Databricks Ventures. This massive valuation reflects deep market conviction in the emerging prompt-to-production era of software creation. Investors see Replit as a key player in a new class of companies shaping the AI-driven technology economy.

Alongside the funding announcement, the company launched Replit Agent 4, its most advanced AI-powered development tool. This new agent allows users to move fluidly from a conceptual idea to a fully functional application within a single environment. It features an infinite canvas for visual design and uses parallel agents to build different software components at the same time.

The platform currently supports over 50 million users, ranging from students to professional engineers at Fortune 500 companies. Enterprise adoption has grown significantly with major clients like Adobe, PayPal, and Zillow utilizing the system for internal projects. Replit's browser-based environment removes traditional barriers to entry, allowing anyone with an internet connection to build and ship code.

Management intends to use the fresh capital to accelerate product development and deepen enterprise security capabilities. By expanding its agentic features, Replit aims to make software engineering accessible to a global audience. CEO Amjad Masad stated that the partnership with Georgian is instrumental as they continue to expand what builders can imagine.

Georgian brings specialized expertise through its in-house AI Lab, which helps portfolio companies scale production-grade machine learning solutions. The firm manages $5.7 billion in assets and maintains a highly concentrated investment strategy. This latest funding round solidifies Replit's status as a leader in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-assisted software development.

The $9 billion valuation for Replit signals a major turning point where AI agents are transitioning from simple coding assistants into autonomous engineering teams. While competitors like Cursor and GitHub Copilot focus on making professional developers more efficient within traditional environments, Replit is betting on a browser-first ecosystem that democratizes software creation for non-technical roles. This funding reflects the industry's shift toward "vibe coding," where the ability to articulate an idea is becoming as valuable as the ability to write syntax. By integrating design, logic, and deployment into a single agentic workflow, Replit is challenging the traditional silos of software development and preparing for a future where application building is a universal skill rather than a specialized trade.
