Pixxel closed a $100 million Series C on September 7, 2026, co-led by Temasek and Seraphim. New money came from 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment. Existing backers Radical Ventures, growX ventures, and others also joined. The Bengaluru and Los Angeles company said the raise takes total funding to $195 million and is the largest funding round yet for an Indian space technology firm.
The company started with hyperspectral satellites that capture surface detail conventional cameras miss. It now sells a wider stack: sensing satellites, Aurora Earth intelligence software, and spacecraft for commercial and sovereign missions. Founder and chief executive Awais Ahmed said the new capital is meant to turn that stack into what Pixxel calls planetary infrastructure, with more ways of sensing and more usable intelligence from each pass.

The money is earmarked for four jobs. Pixxel will fly the next Honeybee hyperspectral constellation, adding shortwave infrared and, later, synthetic aperture radar and ultra-high-resolution optical imaging. The first Honeybee is due in 2027. It will keep building Aurora as the layer that turns those feeds into decisions. It will take on more civil, defence, and intelligence Earth observation work for governments. It will also expand satellite manufacturing in India and the United States.
Over the past two years Pixxel has put six Firefly satellites on orbit, which it calls the highest-resolution commercial hyperspectral constellation, and has signed work with NASA and the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office. It has won Indian Ministry of Defence iDEX challenges, sketched an orbital data-centre demonstration satellite, and was picked to lead India’s first public-private Earth observation constellation of 12 satellites under IN-SPACe. Mark Boggett, chief executive of Seraphim Space, said the company sits on AI-powered Earth observation, sovereign space demand, and India’s rise as a SpaceTech exporter.

A $100 million India space round that names NASA, the NRO, and IN-SPACe in the same paragraph is a bet that Earth observation is becoming software plus a factory, not a one-sensor science project. Hyperspectral got Pixxel into the conversation. Radar, higher-resolution optical, and Aurora are how it stays there when governments want a sovereign feed they can task, not a pretty mosaic they rent. The risk is the usual one for a constellation story: Honeybee is still a 2027 launch, and a press list of contracts is not a disclosed imaging cadence. Watch whether the first Honeybee actually flies with SWIR on, whether Aurora shows up in a named civil or defence product, and whether the India-U.S. manufacturing line starts quoting delivery dates instead of capacity slides.
