Growth Capital for European Expansion

Karlsruhe-based Nesto Software GmbH has secured 11 million Euro in growth equity led by Expedition Growth Capital. This funding marks a significant milestone for the previously bootstrapped company, which has already surpassed 5 million Euro in annual recurring revenue. The platform currently automates scheduling and payroll for over 3,000 restaurant locations across Europe, handling more than 100,000 daily employee shifts. This fresh capital will accelerate the company's expansion into new European markets and bolster its sales and marketing teams. A primary focus is the evolution of NORA, the company's AI assistant, into an autonomous agent framework for back-office operations. This transformation aims to provide restaurant managers with a digital co-pilot for complex administrative tasks, moving beyond simple data entry into proactive operational support.

Solving the Labor Cost Crisis

Labor remains the largest controllable cost in the hospitality sector, typically accounting for up to 35 percent of total revenue. Despite this reality, many operators continue to rely on manual spreadsheets and gut feelings to manage staffing. Nesto seeks to replace these legacy methods with data-driven automation that addresses the extreme daily fluctuations common in restaurants. The software utilizes artificial intelligence to forecast guest numbers with up to 92 percent accuracy by analyzing weather patterns, reservations, and local events. This precision allows managers to reduce planning time from hours to seconds while maintaining optimal service levels. The platform ensures that kitchen, service, and bar areas are perfectly staffed even during unpredictable walk-in peaks.

Proven Results in System Catering

Early adopters like McDonald's franchisees have already reported significant improvements in their bottom line. By implementing needs-based planning, some locations reduced staff costs by 9 percent while increasing productivity by 22 percent. Other major clients including L'Osteria, Pizza Hut, and Dunkin' use the platform to maintain the balance between service quality and profitability. Founded in 2017 by engineers from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Nesto has grown rapidly without prior institutional funding. The global market for restaurant scheduling software is projected to reach 1.58 billion dollars by 2026. Nesto is positioned to capture a significant portion of this market through its vertical-specific AI and high employee adoption rates. Learn more on the official website.

The investment in Nesto highlights a critical shift in the hospitality tech landscape from simple software tools to sophisticated AI agents. As labor shortages and rising costs squeeze restaurant margins, the industry is moving away from manual management toward predictive, autonomous systems. This funding suggests that vertical AI designed specifically for the high-friction environment of system catering is becoming the new standard for operational excellence, effectively turning back-office management into a digital-first operation.
