Izmir-based HubX has become Türkiye’s first app-studio unicorn, the government’s investment agency said, after raising up to $75 million from Point72 Private Investments at a $1.2 billion pre-money valuation. It is the company’s first external round.

The agency said HubX was founded in Izmir in 2022 and built a profitable portfolio of more than 40 consumer products without outside capital. Its apps have reached more than 600 million users in more than 190 countries. The company employs more than 370 people in Izmir and Istanbul. A large share of the portfolio is generative AI, photography and video, education, and wellness, including products named Nova, Wiser, DaVinci, and Lotus Flow.

The new money is earmarked for growing those apps and for buying other mobile and web products, plus the teams behind them. Co-founder Cem Ortabaş said the round lets HubX keep building in-house and partner with teams whose products already have users. Point72 Private Investments partner Ishan Sinha said the firm backed the studio’s ability to spot consumer demand and repeat the scale-up. Co-founder Kaan Ortabaş tied the raise to four years of profitable growth.

Invest in Türkiye said HubX is the country’s eighth homegrown unicorn, alongside Trendyol, Getir, Peak Games, Hepsiburada, Dream Games, Insider, and Loom Games. Loom Games crossed the line in 2026 after a majority sale to Scopely at a valuation above $1 billion.

Decoded Take

Most consumer-AI studios raise early and pray the app store keeps paying. HubX did the reverse: stay profitable, then take a single large check from a multi-strategy firm that usually writes later-stage paper. The $1.2 billion pre-money price is a bet that an Izmir factory can keep minting AI camera and wellness apps after the category gets crowded, and that acquisitions will refill the top of the funnel faster than new builds. The risk is concentration. App-store fees, ad auctions, and a handful of hit titles can reverse a “profitable studio” story in one quarter. Watch whether the “up to $75 million” figure closes in full, which products Point72 actually wants scaled, and whether the first disclosed acquisition is a Turkish team or a US or European app with distribution HubX does not have.
