Harvey AI, the legal technology unicorn recently valued at $5 billion, has acquired the AI storytelling platform Hexus. The deal involves the Hexus engineering team joining Harvey to lead a new initiative focused on serving in-house legal departments. This strategic move aims to integrate automated narrative capabilities into Harvey’s sophisticated legal workflows.

Hexus gained recognition for its multimodal AI engine that converts screen recordings into interactive product demos and guides. The platform was designed to help teams simplify technical concepts and streamline the creation of marketing and support assets. Founded by Sakshi Pratap, the startup served a diverse range of clients, from early stage founders to large enterprises.

Under Harvey’s leadership, the Hexus team will pivot their storytelling expertise toward the legal sector. They will develop tools that translate complex regulatory requirements and contractual language into clear, accessible visual narratives. This effort aligns with Harvey’s goal of expanding beyond traditional law firms to support corporate legal teams.

Existing Hexus users can continue to access their accounts and data until the platform sunsets on April 20, 2026. The Hexus team will provide support and migration assistance throughout this three-month period to ensure a smooth transition. After this date, the standalone service will be discontinued as the team focuses on their new mission at Harvey AI.

The Evolution of Specialized AI Platforms

This acquisition marks a significant moment in the consolidation of the generative AI market, where specialized vertical leaders are absorbing horizontal tools to capture elite engineering talent. By integrating storytelling technology into legal workflows, Harvey is moving toward a future where AI does more than draft documents: it visualizes and explains them to stakeholders. This "acqui-hire" strategy highlights that the next stage of competition will be won by platforms that bridge the gap between technical complexity and user accessibility.
