Gupshup launched a self-serve Voice AI Platform on September 3, 2026, extending the engagement stack it already sells for WhatsApp, RCS, and SMS into live phone calls. The Mumbai and San Francisco company said teams can configure an agent’s voice, language, knowledge base, prompt, and workflows in a no-code console, then run simulations and compare models before a number goes live.

The product is aimed at support, lead qualification, and operational calls such as scheduling, verification, and payment reminders. After deploy, the console tracks success rates, satisfaction, and language mix, and keeps transcripts plus debug logs. Gupshup said customers can choose speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and LLM vendors instead of taking a fixed stack, and can run on PSTN or WhatsApp voice, in the cloud or on-premise, including bring-your-own telephony.

The company said the platform sits on a network that already reaches more than 50,000 businesses in more than 100 countries and 25 industries, processing 10 billion interactions a month, including 500 million voice calls. New users get 100 minutes of credits. List pricing starts at $0.035 (INR 3.50) per minute. The console is live at voiceai.gupshup.io.

“For customer engagement in emerging markets, Voice AI drives universal access, reaching every user regardless of language or literacy. In developed markets, it drives efficiency and automation.” Beerud Sheth, Co-founder and CEO, Gupshup

Sheth called the launch the only unified self-serve platform for voice and messaging on one customer journey. The release does not name beta customers or publish completion rates from those trials.

Decoded Take

Voice agents are no longer a demo. They are a pricing war on the phone bill. Gupshup is using a messaging footprint that already lives inside WhatsApp threads and trying to own the callback that used to go to a BPO. Model choice and bring-your-own PSTN are the parts enterprises will actually test. The missing number is containment: how many of those 500 million monthly voice minutes a self-serve agent can finish without a human, and in which languages. Watch whether Indian banks and commerce apps show up as named logos, whether the $0.035 rate holds once minutes leave the trial bucket, and whether WhatsApp voice plus PSTN in one transcript becomes the default buying motion or just another overlay on a CPaaS contract.
