New Core Intelligence Released

Google has officially released Gemini 3.1 Pro, an upgraded AI model designed for high-level reasoning and complex problem-solving. This rollout marks a significant expansion of the Gemini 3 ecosystem, following the launch of Gemini 3 Deep Think just one week prior. The new model is now available in preview for developers and enterprise customers, while consumer access is rolling out through the Gemini app and NotebookLM.

Breakthrough Reasoning Performance

The defining achievement of this update is a massive leap in logical processing. Gemini 3.1 Pro achieved a verified score of 77.1% on the ARC-AGI-2 benchmark, a metric that tests a model's ability to solve entirely new logic patterns. This performance is more than double that of the previous Gemini 3 Pro model, setting a new baseline for what Google calls core intelligence.

Specialized Coding and Design Capabilities

Beyond raw logic, the model introduces specialized capabilities like code-based animation and interactive design. It can generate website-ready, animated SVGs directly from text prompts, ensuring high resolution and small file sizes. Developers can also use the model to prototype sensory-rich interfaces, such as 3D simulations that respond to hand-tracking and generative audio scores.

Complex System Synthesis

System synthesis is another major focus, allowing the model to bridge the gap between complex APIs and user design. In one demonstration, it configured a public telemetry stream to build a real-time aerospace dashboard for the International Space Station. This allows for the rapid creation of functional tools without the need for manual UI configuration or extensive frontend development.

Platform Availability and Agentic Future

Enterprise users can access the new intelligence via Vertex AI and Gemini Enterprise, while developers can explore the preview in Google AI Studio. Google intends to use this preview phase to validate agentic workflows before a full general release. The company is particularly focused on its development platform, Google Antigravity, which leverages Gemini 3.1 Pro to automate multi-step tasks.

The release of Gemini 3.1 Pro signals a shift in the AI arms race from purely generative chat toward deep reasoning and agentic autonomy. While competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic have focused on large context windows and creative fluency, Google is doubling down on logic-first architectures. By focusing on the ARC-AGI-2 benchmark, Google is positioning itself to lead the industry in the development of AI agents that can handle complex, multi-layered engineering and scientific tasks. This move likely forces a pivot across the sector, where the ability to synthesize live data and execute code becomes the new standard for Pro tier intelligence.
