Munich based Agile Robots SE and Google DeepMind announced a landmark strategic research partnership on March 24, 2026. This collaboration aims to merge Google DeepMind’s Gemini Robotics foundation models with Agile Robots’ massive industrial hardware footprint. By combining state of the art AI with physical execution, the partners intend to create robots capable of complex reasoning and adaptation in real world environments.

The heart of this alliance is a concept known as the AI flywheel. Agile Robots will deploy hardware running Gemini models into active industrial settings to perform tasks and collect sensor data. This information is then used to fine tune the models, which are pushed back to the robots to expand their capabilities. This continuous feedback loop solves the challenge of scaling AI from simulations to unpredictable physical operations.

Specialized Robotics Intelligence

Google DeepMind is providing its Gemini Robotics stack, including specialized Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models. These allow machines to process visual inputs and natural language to plan actions without explicit training. Beyond traditional industrial arms, the collaboration will also target the Agile ONE humanoid, which is slated for series production in 2026. Initial efforts will focus on high value sectors such as automotive and electronics manufacturing. These industries face growing demand for automation that is both reliable and flexible enough to handle varied tasks. The goal is to transform industrial facilities into active edge inference layers where AI decisions happen locally in real time.
