Automating the Retail Back Office

Glimpse, an AI platform designed for CPG and retail operations, announced a $35 million Series A funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz. The investment included participation from 8VC and Y Combinator, bringing the total raised by the company to $52 million. This capital injection is intended to scale the platform as it builds a comprehensive system of action for leading consumer brands.

The Consumer Packaged Goods market is one of the largest in the world, yet it still relies heavily on manual data entry and fragmented systems. Brands selling to major retailers often lose between 1% and 5% of their top-line revenue to invalid fees and deductions. Glimpse addresses this problem by centralizing retailer data from dozens of portals and cross-referencing it with internal ERP systems to stop financial leakage.

The platform uses specialized AI agents to automate the investigation and recovery of these lost funds. These agents can review thousands of deductions in under 24 hours, a task that would take human analysts nearly two years to complete. By automating these workflows, brands achieve a 91% win rate on disputes and can review every single fee without setting a minimum dollar threshold for manual labor.

Since its launch less than two years ago, Glimpse has achieved 14x year-over-year growth and now supports over 200 brands. Household names like Suave, Chapstick, and Lemon Perfect use the technology to improve their bottom lines and streamline back-office labor. The company reports that its services can free up as much as 10% of a brand's P&L previously lost to operational inefficiencies.

CEO Akash Raju explained that the mission is to provide consumer brands with the same technological leverage found in other modern industries. The team believes that brands should not be forced to increase headcount just to manage the growing complexity of retail partnerships. With this new funding, Glimpse plans to expand its AI capabilities beyond revenue recovery to become a broader operational infrastructure for the entire industry.

This funding signals a major shift toward vertical AI solutions that target essential middle-office operations rather than generic consumer tools. While many startups focus on creative applications, Glimpse addresses the massive financial leakage found in the $100 billion retail back-office labor market. This move highlights a transition for the CPG industry from basic software tools to a true AI-native operating system. By delivering immediate ROI through recovered revenue, the company is demonstrating how specialized automation can transform profitability in traditional sectors.
