Flexzo AI has closed a $12 million Series A funding round led by Octopus Ventures to scale its autonomous workforce system. Fuel Ventures also participated in the round, which supports the mission to modernize healthcare staffing. The startup intends to use the capital to expand its operations across the UK and launch in the United States.
The platform utilizes an agentic AI engine that identifies hospital staffing gaps and matches them with qualified clinicians automatically. By managing compliance and credential verification in real-time, the system bypasses traditional recruitment agencies and their high commissions. This direct-to-clinician model allows NHS Trusts to lower their agency spend while maintaining safe staffing levels.
Founder Jack Henderson launched Flexzo AI in 2023 to address the deep inefficiencies in the temporary staffing market. The software forecasts future gaps and prioritizes internal bank staff to ensure cost-effective resource allocation. Recent leadership additions, including Professor Rupert Shute as Non-Executive Chairman, highlight the company's commitment to clinical governance and national scaling. The NHS currently faces a significant workforce shortage, spending billions on temporary workers to maintain patient safety. Flexzo aims to break this cycle by returning those funds to direct patient care through a subscription-based software model. Early adopters in primary care and hospital trusts report improved roster accuracy and faster hiring times using the system.
The influx of capital into agentic AI for healthcare staffing marks a turning point for hospital administration.
