Envision Energy announced the launch of Dubhe on January 15, 2026, during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. Dubhe is the world's first Energy Foundation Model designed to manage the global energy grid using Physical AI. This system acts as a central brain to optimize renewable energy generation and storage in real time.
Dubhe analyzes vast streams of real-world energy data to synchronize wind turbines, solar panels, and battery systems. By optimizing these resources, the model aims to drive the marginal cost of renewable energy toward zero. This efficiency allows energy systems to scale alongside the rapidly increasing power requirements of global infrastructure.
CEO Lei Zhang explained that while language models process words, Physical AI understands the physical world and its governing laws. Dubhe functions as a guiding star for a new civilization, providing an intelligent foundation for energy systems. This represents a significant shift from digital-only AI to technology that directly manages critical survival infrastructure.
The system works closely with Tianji, Envision’s large-scale weather foundation model, to predict fluctuations in renewable resources. Since wind and solar energy depend on weather patterns, this integration provides the foresight needed for grid stability. This predictive intelligence ensures that the energy system operates reliably even during variable environmental conditions.
Envision Energy also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Masdar to accelerate the deployment of these AI energy systems. The collaboration focuses on wind power, green hydrogen, and advanced storage solutions across global markets. This partnership combines technology with Masdar’s expertise to drive a faster transition to clean energy. As global AI development demands unprecedented levels of electricity, Dubhe provides the necessary infrastructure to power that growth cleanly. By creating an "AI-Energy" loop, the model uses artificial intelligence to solve the energy constraints of the industry. This approach ensures that the digital revolution does not outpace the planet's ability to provide sustainable power.
This launch marks a transition for Envision from a hardware manufacturer to a software platform provider. For the energy industry, it signals that the next phase of the energy transition will be defined by system-level intelligence rather than just physical capacity.
As AI data centers become the primary drivers of energy demand, the ability to orchestrate the grid with millisecond precision becomes a competitive necessity. This move effectively merges the energy and computing sectors into a single, high-efficiency ecosystem.
