Digital Dubai has officially launched the AI Workforce Transformation Program (AI+), a massive upskilling initiative designed to train 50,000 Dubai Government employees by 15 April 2026. This strategic project is a collaborative effort with the Dubai Government Human Resources Department and the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence. The program aims to fundamentally transform the public sector workforce from technology users into active co-designers of smart services.

The curriculum is structured into specialized tracks tailored to different job roles to ensure maximum impact across the government hierarchy. Leadership tracks provide senior executives with insights into strategic AI adoption, while a dedicated track for Chief AI Officers focuses on implementing the emirate's policy frameworks. Other tracks for managers and general staff concentrate on practical skills like prompt engineering and task automation to enhance daily productivity.

H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai, emphasized that the initiative reflects a commitment to empowering employees to harness technology guided by knowledge. He noted that the government employee is no longer merely a user but a partner in designing proactive services that anticipate people's needs. This synergy between human talent and artificial intelligence is expected to accelerate decision-making and elevate the digital quality of life in the city.

By equipping staff with these future-ready skills, the government aims to increase workforce productivity by 50 percent and foster a culture of continuous institutional innovation. The program supports the broader objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to position Dubai among the top three global cities. This large-scale training effort ensures that all departments can securely and effectively deploy emerging technologies to serve the public better.

Ultimately, the AI+ program reinforces Dubai's leadership in the global digital landscape by creating an integrated ecosystem where technology and people work in harmony. The initiative provides the necessary tools for employees to automate mundane tasks, allowing them to focus on high-impact projects that drive economic value. This move signals to the global tech community that Dubai is ready for advanced AI integration across all facets of its government operations.

This initiative represents a strategic shift from infrastructure investment to human capital development, positioning Dubai as a living laboratory for public sector AI integration. By standardizing AI literacy across 50,000 employees, the government is mitigating the global skills gap while creating a friction-free environment for tech investment. This moves the needle beyond experimental adoption into mandatory institutional competency, supporting the D33 Agenda to double Dubai's economy through digital innovation and proactive civic service.
