Boston based privacy firm DeleteMe announced the acquisition of social media safety tool Block Party on March 24, 2026. The strategic move aims to provide a unified defense against personal data exposure and the rising tide of AI powered cyberattacks. By combining forces, the companies seek to protect users across the open web, data broker sites, and major social media platforms. The average American currently has over 600 pieces of personally identifiable information circulating online. This data serves as fuel for hackers who use artificial intelligence to conduct sophisticated impersonation attacks. Last year alone, AI driven social engineering threats saw a staggering 89 percent increase as criminals moved away from software exploits toward human targets.

Automating Social Media Hygiene

Block Party brings specialized automation to the table through a browser extension that secures accounts on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. It functions as a digital deep cleaner, identifying exposure risks and adjusting complex privacy settings that platforms often bury. This technology directly complements DeleteMe's existing service of purging data from broker databases and public record sites. The integration is particularly focused on curbing the raw material used for deepfakes and voice cloning. Roughly half of U.S. adults share audio or video content weekly, providing ample data for AI impersonation according to the official press release. DeleteMe intends to offer a proactive shield that removes the information hackers find in the two places they look first: social media and data brokers.

Founder Tracy Chou noted that social media activity often provides an open door into a personal life if not managed. For now, Block Party and DeleteMe will continue to operate as distinct products while technical integration plans are finalized. This strategic merger reinforces the company mission to become the definitive leader in proactive privacy protection for both consumers and over 1,000 corporate partners.
