Hyperscale data center specialist AirTrunk celebrated ten years in Singapore by launching its new regional headquarters at the Ocean Financial Centre on March 13, 2026. This move highlights the company’s vision of Singapore as a central gateway for its Asia-Pacific strategy and a hub for advanced artificial intelligence. The new office will house executive teams across innovation, engineering, and corporate strategy to support rapid regional growth.

Multi-Billion Dollar Infrastructure Commitment

Since 2016, the Australian-founded company has committed several billion dollars to Singapore, including three hyperscale facilities with a total capacity of 180MW. A significant portion of this expansion is funded by a landmark S$2.25 billion green loan, the largest of its kind for a data center in the country. This capital supports the development of SGP2, a massive campus designed to meet the soaring demand for AI and cloud computing services.

Workforce and Strategic Growth

AirTrunk CEO Robin Khuda announced plans to triple the local workforce to approximately 350 high-value roles by 2030. This expansion follows the company’s A$24 billion acquisition by a consortium led by Blackstone and CPPIB in 2024. The new headquarters features employee-led design and wellness zones, reflecting a commitment to long-term talent development within the city-state.

Alignment with National Digital Strategy

Minister for Digital Development and Information, Mrs. Josephine Teo, attended the opening and discussed the nation's strategy for sustainable digital infrastructure. AirTrunk’s operations align with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0 and the Green Data Centre Roadmap. The government’s recent S$1 billion investment in AI research further drives the need for locally hosted, energy-efficient compute power.

Future Financial Prospects

Looking ahead, AirTrunk is exploring a potential Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) listing on the Singapore Exchange to raise further growth capital. The SGX is viewed as a premier market for data center assets, providing a stable platform for institutional investment. As AI workloads continue to increase, the company remains positioned to scale its footprint significantly across Southeast Asia.

The launch of this headquarters signifies a broader shift in the data center industry where regional hubs are evolving into AI-first ecosystems. By consolidating leadership in Singapore, AirTrunk is positioning itself at the nexus of Southeast Asian digital trade and government-backed AI initiatives. This move demonstrates that physical infrastructure is no longer just about storage; it is about providing the high-density compute required for the next generation of generative AI. The heavy reliance on green financing also sets a new benchmark for how large-scale digital projects must reconcile massive energy needs with national sustainability goals.
